The large checked also adds up to 64 inches, 2 more than the 62 inch requirement. Although I don't think most airlines would care about that. It's usually the carryon that poses a problem.

Yeah the big one measures 65.8". Usual limit is 65.0" on most airlines

I don't understand why a company would make these 2 sizes, it's irresponsible.

For the larger check in, the subtle secondary thing to watch out for is the weight. The dimensions are over the limit, but they probably won't check. So the secondary issue is the weight limit. With a bigger suitcase, it's easier to go over the weight limit accidentally, which they do check every time. Not a deal breaker if you're aware, but something to keep in mind.

The 23 is just straight up useless for most flights.
