Casual gamer here, new to roguelikes. Paid $6 for this before a long flight last year. Two hours of time melted away while playing, but once my first loss happened and I realized I'd basically have to do the same thing over again, I immediately lost interest and haven't touched it since. It's well-made, but not for me.

Just a heads up for anyone who might match my profile. That said, the game is so cheap that it's worth buying on sale even if you're hesitant. $7 is a good price for even a couple hours of entertainment, and it's going to an indie developer.

In the same boat. Gave it a fair shake several times, but I didn't understand the hype around it at all. It just felt tedious to me and it wasn't just because the roguelike format.

Balatro is life. I've played it every day except one for the past two years I've had it. It's great because you can hop in at any point. I've already done completionist++ but I play it just to pass the time now. If you're stuck in a waiting room or at the DMV the time just melts away and leaves you wanting they would stop being so damn efficient.

Was extremely addictive for a span of several months. I play it from time to time but I still love this game.
