I have this and the larger one of the same style. Use them almost every day on my workbench. Highly recommended.

I think the idea for most of these if that you put it back on the stand each time you set it down. The stand provides the power to heat the gun. The gun just keeps it warm for a bit while not on the stand ( that's at least how some of these work)

I'm assuming there's not enough thermal mass here for "dual-temp" operation, although I guess you would get that de facto if you waited for a minute-ish.

They should have used magnetic contacts versus a plug contact. This is going to be annoying to put the gun on the dock and take it off.

How is the docking and undocking. It looks like you can't do it single handed.

The first video shows them using one hand to take it off and to replace it. I would prefer the style with batteries though, so I could use it completely away from a power outlet, independently.

Sounds nice for brief "bench friendly" projects. My headache usually involves using a gun where power isn't so convenient. While it has a dangling cord, my plug in gun has the thermal mass to run for a couple of minutes sans power anyway.

I'm sure it's nice for the right application, but that limitation needs to be called out.
