I have this and the larger one of the same style. Use them almost every day on my workbench. Highly recommended.

I think the idea for most of these if that you put it back on the stand each time you set it down. The stand provides the power to heat the gun. The gun just keeps it warm for a bit while not on the stand ( that's at least how some of these work)

I'm assuming there's not enough thermal mass here for "dual-temp" operation, although I guess you would get that de facto if you waited for a minute-ish.

They should have used magnetic contacts versus a plug contact. This is going to be annoying to put the gun on the dock and take it off.

How is the docking and undocking. It looks like you can't do it single handed.

The first video shows them using one hand to take it off and to replace it. I would prefer the style with batteries though, so I could use it completely away from a power outlet, independently.

Sounds nice for brief "bench friendly" projects. My headache usually involves using a gun where power isn't so convenient. While it has a dangling cord, my plug in gun has the thermal mass to run for a couple of minutes sans power anyway.

I'm sure it's nice for the right application, but that limitation needs to be called out.

They sell a version that works with Ryobi batteries for about $30 if you have any of those. Link: https://a.co/d/00OSy8Gj

Have owned that version for about two years and it works great. Gives you about 45 minutes to an hour or so of use with the cheapest 2ah Ryobi batteries. Obviously get more run time with the bigger capacity batteries but you won't get any meaningful improvement using the Ryobi HP batteries

I have the full size version. It works great
I mostly use mine to reseal or create new shipping boxes. Or for an occasional repair

If you have to "call out" the need for power on a hot glue gun, you can always get a ryobi, but you'll spend more and probably complain about the weight.

Stupid design - the tight plug/socket, what a hassle to take the gun out and put it back.

Super easy. I have the base screwed to the top of a desk and it goes on/off the base easily with one hand. My other hand is always holding a workpiece.

Good idea but most people wouldn't be willing to screw it to their desk.

You could always hot glue it to your desk.
