Good price, gave a thumbs up and rep. Is it true that you get an extra year of warranty if you buy it directly from ubiquiti? This unit does accept storage, even though it doesn't come with any, but you either have to buy their proprietary drive caddy for 20 bucks which is reasonable, or I found a 3D printed one on eBay for five bucks.

Yes, you do (2 years instead of 1), and I've used it after one year, successfully (UDM Pro hit by lightning and fried both SFP+ ports, and they RMA'd it)
There were rumors that MC would cover a 2nd year for equipment purchased through them, but I've not seen anything absolutely confirming that. MC is one of the only physical storefronts for Ubiquiti products that I know of.
This device does not have built-in wifi, but is a great entry point in to the Ubiquiti ecosystem. Be careful though, it's an addicting and expensive hobby!
If you buy the tray from ebay/etsy make sure it's printed with PETG- these little buggers get pretty hot! The $20 from Ubiquiti does have a built-in heatsink, but the problem with buying from Ubiquiti is you have to pay the shipping charges which are normally $10-15. Keep in mind the only real reason you'd need storage is if you decided to run their Protect system with camera feeds. It will work fine on it's own with the Network application as a Gateway (Firewall, Router, Switch, adopt APs, etc) without any additional storage.

Even slicker if you can find an open-box for $199 in-store.
That is a great deal! Look for some open box U7 APs to make a complete system!

This router is amazing and under rated especially if you have very fast internet connection. Activating the IDS/IPS has almost no impact with hardware acceleration. This with an AP XG or XGS is probably the best possible for hardware enthusiast today.
This thing never goes on sale. Looked during Black Friday last year and only the older Gateways were on sale. I want something that will take me through 10g home internet and this is it. Have 3 computers and a NAS that can do 2.5g so looks like my jump from 1g is near.
Edit - Free shipping would sweeten the deal, also see I'm getting charged tax when there are no MCs in my state.

He probably got the Gateway Fiber (not this one, the Cloud Gateway Fiber). Yes, the naming is stupid. I almost jumped on that BF deal too until I realized they are two different models. Main difference is the Cloud model has built-in controller software and I wanted an AIO solution (some don't).
