The first generic one started leaking oil, I assume from a bearing. I only noticed this because I was making a smoothy and was thinking this is looking a little dark....and well it tasted awful. I was horrified thinking how much oil/grease I was ingesting prior to the discovery.
The 2nd generic one, I was looking for a better / bigger brand and went with Mueller. This one is great. Metal all the way to the bottom. Powerful enough, although in comparison to the vitamix they exaggerate on the power. No problems, its working fine.
SD got the better of me and I wanted to try the vitamix out. It is significantly more powerful. It is significantly heavier too. The weight isn't bad for me, but I can definitely see some complaining about it. I really wish they did not use a plastic end. I understand the reasoning, but IMO if you are careful then you would just not slide the stainless one at the bottom of containers. One complaint with the design of the vitamix bell has openings, and quite frequently I will get food (tomatoes) lodged in the slits. The other bells I used were entirely enclosed so I did not have this issue. Its a major annoyance. You could ignore it and just be ok with waste or having chunks.
I think the tl;dr would be that if you don't have an immersion blender already you will be quite satisfied with this one. Extremely well built I have full confidence that this will last years with a great company backing it. Super powerful, literally the vacuum sucks the bell down to the bottom!! If you already have one, I think you could skip this one. I would be quite fine continuing to use the Mueller and it now sits in a storage bin.
