Bought one of these around a decade ago. Has worked great for me every time I have used it (admittedly infrequently).

What does it power for you when used?

We've had ours 10 years or so. We use ours to run a fridge, a window a/c, and our pop up camper in summer, and in winter we run it for about an hour every month or two. It is meant as a storm backup for our gas furnace and some select appliances in case of a power outage in our home.
It can be hard to pull start when cold. It has alway started for us though and is still using its original spark plug. I do oil changes yearly with Mobil1 synthetic.

I love the size on these guys however, even tho I need to give up on size, I will probably never again buy one without a push start, as when you do get older pulling that darn cord is exhausting unless your unit is like in perfect condition and starts on the first couple pulls. That never applies to me as they sit in storage most of the time until an event occurs where I need to pull them from cold storage.

Ha, I feel you! I have one with push start, but the battery is always too weak to start it. I know I just need to connect a battery tender or trickle charger to it, but haven't gotten around to doing this yet.

Unlike many other Wen models, this one does not appear to have a fuel shut off valve to use up the remaining fuel in the carb before shutting down. This keeps your carburetor from gumming and prevents downstream starting issues.

I believe you are incorrect on the fuel shutoff valve. Then knob on the front goes from OFF to ON to CHOKE. I have a Westinghouse version of this exact same generator. I've had it for 4 years now, and it easily starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull. I only use ethanol free gas, and have only changed oil once (I know, I know...). I use it sparingly in the winter during a shutdown or a few times camping during the summer.

Point being, that knob does move it from choke to a normal run, and then when moving to off, it's not an instantaneous shutoff, but more like fuel starvation shutoff.

I bought one (56203i) several years ago to have as a backup to my big generator -to keep the boiler running if needed & run power tools without wrestling a long cord.... Other poster is correct, no usb (boo) on this one, also mine is a full 10lbs lighter...

Unfortunately, I confirmed that this model does not have a dedicated fuel shutoff feature to drain the carb dry. The "Off" position on the 3-position knob will immediately turn off the engine vs. using up the remaining fuel in the carb. I have read that there's a bit of a trick that helps (not sure how effective it is though) where you can rotate the switch slowly from On towards Off, stop at an "unmarked" position between On and Off where the engine still runs but the fuel flow is restricted, let the engine run until it dies from lack of fuel (roughly 1–2 minutes), and then once the engine dies, move the dial fully to the Off position.

BTW, the upgraded, newer model (WEN 56203i) has a fuel shutoff:

Great deal! Have the older model I got about 12 years ago for $500. Over 200+ hours and running good (just a few more pulls to start). Run the 30W oil more than once to get out more shavings from the engine. Run with stabil till empty at end of season, synthetic 10W-30 for my area, keep up with maintenance and does a great job.

These start with half a light pull. Absolutely no need to have electric start on an engine of this size.

Drain the fuel system folks! It's in the manual. Why? Tiny capillary size passageways are easily clogged, gummed up, 99% of the time with hard starting gum restricting fuel delivery is the cause.

It is not sufficient to simply turn off the petcock and add fuel preservative. Internet myth.

How: Easy. On the carburetor float bowl there is a small tube. Pull it out then turn the drain screw counter clockwise until fuel flows. First run the generator dry with the petcock OPEN. Or empty the tank manually by siphoning or inverting. If inverting, then drain the oil first to prevent oil from fouling the air cleaner.

Drain the carburetor with the petcock OPEN. This way the entire fuel system is drained including the fuel lines. When the tank, fuel lines and carb are dry no gum can form. When gum forms you have fuel starvation which causes hard starting. Worse you have reduced engine power, and engine surging. Once the fuel system is fouled it is necessary to replace the carburetor and fuel lines. And very likely you will have rust in the tank from condensation. Rust flecks with then foul your new carburetor. All of this damage is easily prevented.

I will usually rinse the tank with 90% ETOH and let that drain out followed by air drying. Final step -refill the oil and set the piston to TDC. Now that there is no fuel in the engine and only clean oil there will be zero odors and you can store the genset indoors in a closet. It's not good to store these outdoors.
