The onn Large Party Speaker Gen 2 stands out as a strong value party speaker with punchy sound, bass boost, and LED lights that can be turned off. It compares well with smaller speakers and holds its own at lower volumes, with enough output to fill a room or even be linked with a second unit for more sound. The main tradeoff is that JBL models still sound better, especially at louder volumes where this one can get muddy. Open box units also carry some seller risk, including missing accessories. A solid budget pick if you want big sound without JBL pricing.
people who want a bigger party-speaker sound upgrade from a small Bluetooth speaker because it "sounds much better than a smaller" speaker and the value is strong for the money.
buyers comparing it to a JBL 120 Party Box for lower-volume listening because side-by-side it can be "pretty close at lower volume," and the quality gap shows more only when you turn it up.
households that need a portable speaker for everyday use (like 5 days a week) because one owner reported a year of long-term use with no major issues and said it works great.
people who want to run two speakers together for more coverage because the community says you can connect 2 together for even more sound.
buyers who care about LED control and bass boost features because one open-box recipient said it has a "boost option" for bass and that the lights can be turned off.
people who are okay with open-box risk and want an easy return path because it's sold via eBay and one commenter said you're "guaranteed to get your money back."
buyers who expect JBL/Bose-level performance at louder volumes because multiple commenters said it won't match at higher volume and may sound muddy compared with a JBL.
buyers who are sensitive to open-box cosmetic condition because one commenter noticed a possible dent visible in a stock photo (handle sleeve) and said it raises serious quality concerns for open-box units.
buyers who want to avoid third-party seller uncertainty because the listing is described as a third-party seller that "doesn't have a great reviews either."
people who need everything included in the box because one open-box delivery arrived missing the charging cord even though the unit itself sounded great.
buyers who want maximum battery performance on battery power because one commenter said their Gen 2 battery seemed to "suck" early on and only improved after charging past the "fully charged" indication.
buyers who plan to push the speaker hard for high expectations because a commenter who saw it at a dealership/Sam's Club said it sounded fine at the volumes used, but they expected more from JBL/Bose by comparison.

Obviously raises serious quality concerns if they dented this one just photographing it!
Maybe halfway between this and the JBL would be the tribit stormbox blast. I really dig mine.
It's on eBay, what's the worst that happens? You are guaranteed to get your money back.

My ex had an Onn Gen 1 whose batteries started giving out the last year we were together, and the volume dial started being glitchy. It was on all the time, she took it everywhere. After Helene we took our FEMA relocation at the beach and it sat in sun with salt humidity it's final days. I want to say it was 4-5 years old? And I can't stress it was in use constantly, her life was music.
I had bought a Samsung MX-ST40B a year before that. The sound was noticeably better and battery life good, but the interface sucked by comparison to the Onn Gen 1 - I'm talking about the controls on the unit, I never bothered with their app which sucks. My only real complaint is the volume wouldn't go as high on battery, which was more annoying than a deal breaker as it was mostly used to fill one room with music - but it's a big deal to some people. I'd probably give the nod to the Samsung at the same price point, despite lacking the interface or wheels, despite the volume issue, but that's my use case.
I left the Samsung with her when we split and bought an Onn Gen 2. The buttons are more of the slightly annoying style of the MX-ST40B, but it has the dial so it's not bad. Sound quality is good, unsure where it ranks vs Gen 1 or the Samsung unit I had as I haven't directly compared them but it's neck and neck and I'm not disappointed.
My only complaint about the Gen 2 is it seemed early on the battery life sucked. I discovered that it lasted significantly longer if charged a while past when it indicated fully charged. I may have an issue with mine in that regard, but it lives in my kitchen or bathroom so the battery isn't a big deal to me. At the 130 I spent I'd buy another - and the price of this deal can't be beat.
