For anyone considering this; the carry-on is too large for any airlines that have strict requirements for sizes.
Most US Airlines limit the carry-on size to 22 x 14 x 9 including handles and wheels, this carry-on is 22.75 x 14.25 x 10.25.

Suggest using an online bag check utility like https://willmybagfit.com to ensure this will work for you.

Airlines on the US are rarely that strict about the exact size limit. I've flown dozens of times with bulky carry-ons and have never seen them break out the baggage sizer under normal circumstances.

The exceptions are if (a) the flight is completely full and they're just looking for an excuse to make you check your bag, or (b) obviously if you've pissed off the airline staff for some reason.

My son has been carrying this carry-on, but different color, between home and college and has had zero problems getting into his cabin. It also holds a lot of space within.

I have a Swiss Gear backpack, which I love, so I was about to instant buy these. But, the reviews have me second-guessing. Do you think something like a Samsonite might be better?

That's exactly my situation. My Swiss Gear laptop backpack has been my daily commuter for 15+ years and has no signs of stopping. We need new luggage and I almost instantly bought these.

Been using this model for a couple of years now. IMO swiss gear is always great as far as luggage goes. The wheels are not sticking out in this model or screwed to the bottom. They are fixed in a mould to the body. This matters for checked bags during international travel involving multiple layovers. Baggage handlers are really rough with these bags. I'd only had the 21 inch carry on. Paid over $100 for it right here. Full set no brainer for $200
