Could be useful for someone using a mini rack but the one you linked is definitely the better deal. Snagged one a few days back.

I agree it is a much better deal but it is also one of those things that if you won't ever use them then why bother .

IF the physical size of the 8-port is a non-issue for the intended use, the 'why bother' is pretty simple, assuming the $3.61 isn't a sizeable challenge. It can be looked at as a form of insurance. for a couple of valid reasons:
  1. You might develop a need in the future for more ports.
  2. Ports CAN go bad. You now have a minimum of 3 spare ports.
Both are solid budget options for a MANAGED switch, even if the management is somewhat limited. The basics are appear to to be there; being able to configure options for prioritization of ports and/or traffic, VLAN segmentation, monitoring performance/errors, etc. are nice bonuses at this price point, if you place any value on management capabilities.

In for an 8-port to replace an aging unmanaged switch in my entertainment center. $21.59 for 8 ports with basic management features is a no-brainer, if it lasts for a few years.

Agreed but I already have a spare one of these from when I upgraded to an 8-port 2.5G which is unmanaged and from a non-major brand. Will replace that one with a managed version once the major brands come out with a more affordable one. For example, the Netgear MS308E is $189 on Amazon.

(I avoid managed switches with dubious firmware for firmware quality and security reasons)

Just got 2gb fiber and I'm a networking newb. I started with a simple ubiquiti 5 port 2.5 unmanaged switch in my office to run a line to my other AP (both Eero pro 7). With this being a managed switch, will I run into any issues downstream? Any other considerations?

Omada is TP-Link's SDN, not Netgear's. That being said, this switch can be added behind an Omada controller, it just won't be "adoptable" but could still be managed using its own built-in browser based management interface (i.e. ports assigned to VLANs etc.).
