An excellent game for girls in the ~5-9 year old range. Basically you play as Princess Peach, and in each level you transform into different "roles" (swordfighter, detective, ice skater, and mermaid come to mind, but there's a bunch) and play themed levels. Very much targeted at a certain demographic.

I would not recommend it for adults.

I don't disagree in spirit, however I'd highly recommend folks try the free demo. As an adult dad, playing it with my twelve year old son, I can say we both enjoyed it for what it is even if not our usual style. Don't think we'd buy it but we'd gladly borrow it from a friend for a few weeks.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is a cute, kid focused Switch game that works especially well for younger players and family play. The themed levels and Peach transformations keep it varied, and the demo is worth trying before buying. It is easy enough for a five or six year old to handle, yet some adult players find it too simple, while others hit frustration trying to 100 percent levels. The game also has unskippable cutscenes, no chapter select, and a few rough moments, making it a solid fit for kids who like Nintendo style play.

Common Questions (3)

  • It is well suited to kids around 5-9, with a simple core loop that a 5- or 6-year-old can mostly play on their own. Adults can still enjoy it as a family game, but it is aimed more at children than adult gamers.

  • The main game is easy enough for young kids, but 100% completion can be frustrating for adults because some levels are challenging to fully clear. It is also described as very hard by some players, so the difficulty can spike beyond the basic playthrough.

  • Yes. The free demo is specifically recommended before purchase, especially if you are unsure whether the game's kid-focused style and gameplay loop will suit you.

It's a cute game on its own right and my daughter loved it. 60fps mode would be nice for s2.

May I ask why you as a dad don't think it worth a purchase as one and done deal for most rather than to play the demo which doesn't give u the full flavor?

I like this game okay. It has problems (unskippable cutscenes, no chapter select, some very cheap parts) but is enjoyable. It would really benefit from a Switch 2 update, though. It doesn't feel good in moment to moment play.

My daughter and i love this game. Easy for her to play (6yr) yet hard enough for me to get frustrated not being able to 100% complete the lvls. It is definitely a replay type game and not just a run thru. If you are an adult gamer and not a huge Nintendo fan then this game is not for you but if you have a daughter thats into gaming. Definitely worth the $30

It's always worth it to try a game before buying if possible.
