LG's 77 inch G5 is being framed as a premium OLED upgrade that stands out most for brightness, especially in very bright rooms or direct sun. The newer tandem OLED panel and panel warranty are the main reasons to step up from a C series set, while the picture difference can look small in side by side viewing unless the room really challenges the screen. The deal price is strong versus other retailers, though tax, installation, mounting, and the optional soundbar bundle can change the total. It reads as a solid G series value if the extra brightness matters.

Common Questions (5)

  • The G5 is mainly brighter and uses the newer tandem OLED panel, which can matter in very bright rooms or direct sunlight. For typical movie-night use, some side-by-side comparisons found only a small difference, so the upgrade may not be worth the extra cost unless you need the extra brightness.

  • Only if you specifically want the G5's brighter panel and tandem OLED benefits. Several comparisons found the difference small in normal home viewing, so a C5 can be the better value if you already have one or do not need the extra brightness.

  • No installation or tax is included, and the listed deal is for the TV without the soundbar. A soundbar bundle is available for about $351 more, and setup or mounting may add extra cost if you need help unboxing or wall-mounting.

  • Yes. Even after the price moved from $2349 to $2459, it still undercuts the LG Partner Store at $2999 and Greentoe at $2699. It is less of a price-mistake level bargain, but still a strong deal for the G-series.

  • Not necessarily. One buyer noted the LG stand costs about $200, so if you cannot wall-mount, you may need to budget for a separate stand or pedestal.

I bought this after having ordered C5 77" for $1600. Not sure if I even need G5 though is it worth the $700-800 price diff? I know you get the panel warranty too but not sure if I really need a G-series
I have an 83" C5 that I'm more than content with. Check Rtings for detailed differences. Mainly, G series has the brightest panels. I usually run the C5 between 20-50% because anything brighter than that is too bright for my use case (movie nights.) If your panel is going to be in direct sun or in a super bright room maybe the G series is warranted.

That's not a good place for comparison.

Difference is significant especially since the G5 uses the new tandem oled panel, C5 does not!
Here is the comparison.

I know the g5 has the newer panel but I didn't notice much of a difference in my house purchased C5 and g5 at same time to compare.
That is honestly the only way to compare, you cannot go off show floor at the store.
G5 was maybe slightly brighter but not worth paying more for.
My 77" c5 1499, G5 I believe at the time was $2700

Well not notice & much of a difference aren't the same.
Brightness isn't the only reason it's better.

The display is the last in the chain.
How well you calibrated each display and quality of content plays a significant role here also.

The tandem oled panels rivals QD-Oled panels for a reason ime.
