Bought a Ninja scratch and dent air fryer from Woot and it was basically brand new.
This is a pretty crazy price for this and can't imagine this being in stock long.
The ATK short segment didn't really give the machine a chance, they complained it was too large and the cold brew and drip coffee weren't good but the espresso was. The whole segment was based on espresso so it is was a weird choice to even put an all in one coffee machine with a grinder integrated against a bambino like they did, a bambino with an espresso grinder could easily be over $800 with accessories. Not to mention the ninja is far less intimidating as well, I could never get my parents for example, to weigh beans, dial in grind size etc. but something like the ninja that does the weighing and takes a lot of the work out of it they would actually considering using (although I still think they would use their 30 year old drip and keurig machine instead)
The only thing slightly concerning is the 90 day warranty and that it is a first iteration scratch and dent refurbished complex espresso machine
A few things I've learned after some Google research (caveat - I'm at the bottom end of the learning curve with respect to espresso machines):
Reviewers say it makes good espresso but mixed reviews on the drip mode. Drip mode seems to be a bit slow, maybe 4-5 minutes per cup.
One reviewer panned the cold brew mode, saying it wasn't truly cold brew. I've seen other reviews saying everything is good. I think it boils down to your level of expectations.
Some reviewers have issues with how well it froths milk - others say the frother works great, so it's possible that the frother may be be inconsistant from machine to machine.
Some have had issues after a while with the grind, fixed by disassembling the grinder and adding another metal shim.
The portable filter funnel on earlier models was made from inferior plastic and breaks easily. New ones with higher quality plastic are available on the Ninja website for not much money.
I haven't been able to fully confirm whether or not there is any plastic is in the brewing chain (my guess is that there is not).
Due to condensatrion or whatever, drain the tray frequently, may have to do daily.
Pretty much everybody says be sure to use fresh beans - buy beans with a "ground on" date not a "sell buy" date. Also consensus seems to be it does best with medium-dark to dark roast beans; light to light-medium roast may not brew as well.
My impression is that this is kind of an espresso machine with training wheels, maybe a "jack of all trades - master of none". It's not designed to compete with a $1,000 unit; it's more for folks like me who don't want to take the time to weigh beans, hand grind, and spend a lot of time experimenting to get the perfect brew.
I had reservations about ordering one due to concerns over long term reliability and the lack of a long warranty from Woot; also about the overall condition of these refurbised units. Time will tell I guess. That said, I have seen videos from folks who have used it daily for up to a year without issues.
