This is a prime example of why I don't think Home Depot really cares about supposed "hacks". They're running this exact same promotion as a hackable promotion where you can add the drill and battery separately and pay $104 for just the driver but the total is $179, while this SKU for $159 isn't hackable. They know exactly what they're doing.

This was $179 for the kit a few days ago and $169 as the lowest price kit a couple weeks ago. This is currently the lowest I've seen it packaged with the 5.0ah battery.

The tools is the same but it was previously bundled with two 2ah batteries instead. The newer version comes with no batteries and they bundle with 5ah here

This seems like a worse bundle… the convenience and selling point of this tool for me is its size and weight. Adding a 5.0 large shaped battery rather than the smaller shaped ones is a mistake. It takes away from its usability in this form. Opinion, of course, but it's my experience using it with all the different batteries.
Oh, and it lasts a long time on a 2.0… it's not a heavy use tool that you would need a 5.0.

Wasn't this deal that came up 3x over the last two months better?

What makes this a "new version": the tool itself or just the packaged deal?

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I already have plenty of the smaller batteries which I could use with this. The 5.0 would come in handy on some of my other M12 tools so this deal works better for me specifically

Yes, it's almost like HD wants you to hack the price down to $104.03 for tool only...
