This has been a thing for a while. I have signed my dog up in June 2025 for free via Walmart+. Why post it now?
Well, I have a W+ membership and somehow I overlooked this benefit, so I appreciate the post.

Same, I didn't even know about it until I was reviewing my benefits today. I don't recall this being part of the program 2 years ago.

Has anyone found it useful? Online for a human can work because we can articulate what is wrong. With an animal isn't it more necessary to have a vet physically present?

There are many, many conditions that telehealth is even better for than in-person vet visits, especially with pets who do not travel well. (Like most cats.) Managing chronic conditions that require an Rx diet, yeasty ears, itchy skin, parasites, behavior concerns, follow-ups, many minor respiratory infections, eye goo, so on and so forth. Telehealth is not meant to replace serious injury, emergencies, new seizures, etc - and all reputable telehealth services will tell you as much and refer you to an in-person practitioner for those.

Telehealth also makes veterinary care much more accessible to many people who cannot drive or take public transport with their pet, who themselves cannot leave home, or who cannot afford in-person vet visits for every minor issue they'd ideally have a vet's advice on. Telehealth is a really, really good advancement for pets and their people.

What have you used it for? Can you get prescription medication through this?

Check out reddit reviews that says it's trash and just a way to get you to get the higher service without providing true value.

I signed up six months ago when my dog had a minor ear infection. I was trying to save a trip to the vet and wanted suggestions as to possible home remedies since it was very minor. I found it absolutely useless as after spending the time to input the symptoms the only response I received was to take her to the vet. OTOH, AI gave me several suggestions that cleared up the problem in a couple of days. I unsubscribed.

I think you have to set realistic expectations, all you do is say "NO" to any upsell. Not hard. If you feel they are wasting your time, just say goodbye. It's worth the 'free' price to perhaps get some benefit from the service.

The reviews on Trustpilot (over 900) are decent and worth the read as far as real world experiences. They aren't an emergency pet hospital like Blue Pearl. It's for basic non acute use and advice.
