Game key cards are why I don't buy on my Switch 2. I wanted DQ 7 Reimagined so bad on it, but wanted physical... guess this will be another pass on the Switch 2

The Switch 2 version of this game is a big improvement over the Switch 1 version in terms of visuals and there other limitations on the Switch 1 version that limit how big you can make your towns. The Switch 2 version is a Game Key-Card

Amazing game. I'm currently 70+ hours in and somewhat surprisingly still going strong. Usually before this point i'm getting kinda bored of long JRPGs and I force myself to power through them, but not the case with this game. Still getting new party members and discovering new team strategies. The change to 8 party members simultaneously really refreshed the series for me. If you're on the fence, give the demo a try, it's a good display of what to expect.
As others mentioned it IS a game key card which is a little disappointing. Not a huge deal for me as it's a game i'm likely to install once when I play the game, and then uninstall at some point in the future to make space for others (assuming i'm not itching for another playthrough in the near future). I can still lend or sell to others if I feel like it. If game key cards are a big sticking point for you, i'd recommend getting it on another platform, but the graphics style lends itself well for lower performance Switch and Switch 2 and I love being able to take it on the go.

It is a hybrid between a purely physical game card and a digital game. Essentially, for the Switch 2 generation, Nintendo's physical game cards are significantly more expensive than Switch 1 cards, especially for higher storage cards so Nintendo gave developers the option of shipping their physical games with a minimum storage size card and having the end customer download a majority of the game's file size digitally. Unlike a purely digital game, you still need to have the game key card in the system in order to play the game at all, but the advantage is that you can still sell, lend, trade, etc. the physical card to someone else. The big drawback compared to a non-game key card physical game is that obviously you have to spend some time/bandwidth downloading the game on initial play, but then if you ever need to make space on your system/SD card, and you want to go back to the game, you would have to download it again. With game's increasing storage sizes, it is highly likely that consumers will need to delete games to make space several times over the course of owning the console depending on how much purely digital and game key card games they have. And then, much further down the line, there will likely end up being a time well past the Switch 2's life cycle where the download for the game may not be available to download.

So if you dont buy it on switch 2, would you get it for PC? PS5? Or xbox? The full game isn't on the disc's either so its all gonna be the same.
