I have many Bosch tools but I'm not a shopvac connoisseur. What justifies this price?

It functions like a portal dust collector similar to a stationary dust collection system in a wood shop.

These are popular with woodworkers as they're designed to work in tangent with woodworking tools. Specifically this one has a feature that allows the vacuum to be powered on when the tool you're using is powered on.

It's a bit semantic, but this is more of an extractor than a vacuum -- the key differences being that this has a higher CFM than most shop vacs and has an actual HEPA-certified filter, which is important not just for health but sometimes for job site compliance. In addition, it has an auto-clean function for shaking drywall or cement dust out of the filter. If you've ever used an extractor without this feature on drywall, you'll know that it clogs to useless levels of intake pressure in 2 minutes. Size of the canister and features would put this up against the Festool CT36 AC at ~$1100.

To some extent, you're probably getting what you pay for. Reviews suggest the cord is short and the wheels and hose are lower quality, but the reason I won't be buying one is that I primarily use these for wood working and only occasionally for drywall. With this model, if you don't want the loud filter-thumping auto-clean, you have to manually turn off that function every time you activate the vac. For me, that would be ~100x/day.

camel has this as typically $600. So they jumped the MSRP to $650 to make this seem like a better deal.

It's also pretty routinely on sale around $475 and lowest at $394

Overall, a meh deal

Have this and other Bosch extractors, no issues with wheels or cords. I use them in shop and residential remodeling, if using on gravel or rough flooring the wheels would wear.
When using with a corded tool plugged in, the afc does not need to be hit everytime. You can stop and start the tool without it coming back on.
Great for anything with fine dust, wood, plaster gypsum, concrete, cement and rock. Has various filter bags that can be tossed or dumped and reused.

That is great to know. Thanks for correcting me with first-hand knowledge. I did a dive on these Bosch reviews a couple times in the last 2 months and got conflicting information. I'm about to setup a new shop; definitely looking at this more seriously now.

One of the best vacuums, I am a homeowner and have this and bigger 14 gal version, all my other shopvacs ended up in sheds to clean dirt from my equipment/garden tools. I always use bags so HEPA filters are almost clean with a little fine dust. The only negative thing about 14gal is that it is getting too heavy when used for drywall or cement dust, so discarding heavy bags is a PITA. I think that 9 gal version is much easier to maneuver in house or between projects/sites. I also bought a static free hose and a few dust collecting attachments for grinders and drills, all perform perfectly so no dust around

I had been in the market for a dust extractor for drywall sanding, and after watching prices, I got his model back in May (25) from HD for $474 + tax. It was the cheapest I saw it drop after watching for close to two months if I remember. I did order the anti-static hose afterwards, as I saw enough comments to say it was warranted. If I had to do that again, I think I would have ordered a Festool soft hose cause the Bosch hose is pretty stiff. Not sure of the adapters necessary to have made that work but surely it's doable. I haven't used this yet, but as mentioned...the thumping does turn some people off. I have read it humorously mentioned someone's neighbors thought they were banging on a drum🥁🥁🥁 For the price and the use I plan with it, the Festool was too much, but also really nice if you got that extra cash swing in you.
