I think their burgers are better than Culvers and I can say I have eaten a lot of 5 Guys Burgers and a few Culvers. Many years ago i used to mystery shop 5 guys so I can speak with some authority that the burgers are very good when cooked/served properly but are priced a bit too high in my opinion. I was eating 5guys three times on every weekend. It seemed like I was the only shopper they liked as I would be driving 20 or 30 minutes to go to a different location. I only had one location that was not that good on a consistent basis but after I told them I would not go back to that location due to the food handling they did "fix" the issue and asked me to go back and it was much better.
I have not found a better place to get fries, lthough they too are a bit overpriced. If they offered a smaller size for a lower price they would probably be better off.
Like their burgers but rarely stop here because they are OVERPRICED!, and Culvers are just as good or better for way less.
Hmmm... OK.... Guess we should give Culvers one more shot. Based on two visits my fam would vehemently disagree with that statement.
Funny thing, they're both in the same shopping center, across the parking lot from each other, so it will be easy to do an A/B burger comparo!
it's shocking to me, even at 1/2 price it's still an expensive burger. I used to go years ago when it was only sort of expensive.
We went to Chili's a few weeks ago and they have a $10.99 deal that included a burger (about 1/3 pound), fries, drink and a salad or other side, and it was really good. So paying around $8 for a single burger is not something that makes sense to us. It seems like 5Guys works on an ROI model that is much higher than most FF places.

Wow, that is really surprising. We have never had an issue with Culvers, and almost everyone we know loves them. Personally, I think their burgers are some of the best around. Obviously, it comes down to the individual location, but pretty much all the ones around us are run great and normally have much better staff that most FF places.
