I suggest you try Google or YT to figure out what HDMI-CEC is? I would buy a new original remote universal remotes often lack important features !

This is the ideal, correct answer.

Unfortunately, a lot of companies have buggy implementations of this and won't work reliably, which leads to crappy MacGuyver stuff like this.

If you watch the antenna feed from the Tv, the Amazon remote cannot control that. Having said that, I bought this for my mother a year ago, and it is only compatible with older firestick remotes.
