Another benefit of this type of mouse is you don't need a full table to use it with a laptop, you can set it next to you or on your thigh when using a laptop on the go.

this type of mouse reversed my plantar fasciitis. yes it takes quite a while to get used to it, but I would not use any other type (tried verticals etc)

I always have used these, for gaming, everyday use, ever since the late 90's. It takes getting used to, especially if all you use is a normal mouse. I never had wrist issues thanks to this type of mouse. But the left clicker eventually will start to go bad and do double clicks after about 2 years or so, at least that was my experience. 3 years ago I bought the 100.00 rechargeable version and its been great, havnt had any left clicker issues as of yet. Charge lasts a long time, only thing that sucks is the rare times you need to recharge you need to plug it in like a phone charger to keep using it till it recharges.

this is the one I bought, Logitech MX Ergo S.

I really wish someone would make a mouse that can switch between trackball and traditional movement. I'm still surprised I've never seen one.
It would be too heavy, that's why they don't have one

How do these compare to the vertical style? Do they have a similar effect versus traditional mice?I actually have one of these and was thinking about getting a vertical mouse because the wrist position seems different and less prone to causing overuse injuries like plantar.
Well, this isn't going to do anything to help anything plantar related, considering "plantar" refers to the soles of your feet. Lol.

I have this mouse and I do have to clean it once in a while as the sensor will slow down but can't go back to the other mouse. I only wish it could self clean.

great idea but trackball must be bigger and heavier than regular mouse to be functional - I'm using this one daily - recommended!

Not sure what you guys are trying to talk about but the word plantar refers to the foot in medical lingo. Carpal tunnel maybe?
Yes but also this is an excellent model for people who need to mouse with their toes. It has a bit of a cult following in that niche application.

If you are about to buy/try this, i would like to share my experience.this is a different way of using the mouse vs a regular one. we move the entire mouse to move the cursor, but this one does not move. we use the ball to move the cursor. and buttons to select etc.. for browsing i am okay with this, but for work I see real difficulty as i habituated to the regular fast way of moving hand between keyboard and mouse, i felt little time taking process.finally returned it. i think i bought around $25 as amazon resale "like new condition" to try this.
Your review of a trackball mouse is that it's a trackball mouse? No way

Coz it is cheaper nowadays to just have both.

I used a track ball for a while because I had a distal tear in my bicep. Which essentially amounts to like an elbow pain. My track ball had a larger ball that was moved with the fingers. This thumb version actually made my pain worse. Totally my personal experience of something to consider if you have a rehab requirement. And also, if you're suffering from this kind of pain, it can go away!

Weird how some people use their mice.

I bought this during the Thanksgiving sale (used for $26) for this same reason and returned it. This thing is massive. Inconvenient to carry and then it takes too much space on the seat (I used it when riding a train during my commute). I am still trying to find a smaller alternative.

I bought this mouse 2 years ago since I was having wrist problems and it was a game changer. The first couple of weeks it was weird getting used to it but it did fix my wrist problems. The pieces that hold the track ball do get dirty so I have to clean it once a week or else you'll get a lot of resistance when using it. It also has good battery life, I think one battery lasts me a couple months.

I use this mouse exclusively for lying in bed like a total fata-- with a tablet arm holding the tablet above my head. I can scroll tiktok indefinitely with minimal body movement. It's peak
