Actually this deal should be more clearly phrased $180 for 1 yr of unlimited of plan with A16, or $200 for 1 yr of unlimited plan with A17, prepaid.

I have the A16 5g, and it can simply not multitask due to the low ram ( 4gb ). I tried to go open Notes to get info to copy/paste for the browser, and by the time I switch back to the browser ( which is 15 seconds at the most ) the entire page has to be reloaded and I lose the form. If they had included just a little more ram, it would've been more than a usable phone. It's a real shame.

The A17 is about $200 after tax if purchased from Samsung directly. Here you get an entire year of service and the phone for Samsung's normal price. The 4GB of RAM is disappointing. I guess you could make it bearable by putting apps into deep sleep when not using them. Personally I'd not buy another Android phone unless it has at least 6GB of RAM or greater.

Does Mint pre-load this model with bloatware or nah?

I bought a Pixel 9 from them, bloat free. If there is bloat on this, it would be courteousy of Samsung.

Not that you should even bother. 4GB of RAM is straight up trash on a phone in 2026. Just like it was in 2021.

Any deals on phones for customers who have been with Mint for years already? Seems like they never have deals to try to keep people making it cheaper to jump to another company for a while before coming back to Mint.

Same question, if someone has a better option... plan ending in a month

If I use the SIM card in a different phone, can this still be unlocked after 60 days?
Mint makes you wait a year. This phone isn't worth it at this price. The deal is the plan for $200 and you get a free low end phone. Their are better offers available to try to run that hustle.

What I do is jump ship at the end of my plan. Like switching to Tello for a month and then back. This year I actually went with USmobile. They often have great plan deals. Same concept as Mint but you can chose the main carrier (Verizon, Tmobile, AT&T). They also give you a higher priority than mint. Doesn't mean anything to most but it makes them feel more premium.

I've had good luck with mint in the past but just recently on the 20gb plan my data just disappeared and mint is doing nothing to remedy it. Pretty disappointing.

Avoid Samsung phones with 4GB ram, they are really slow. I have A15 and it is so slow that I stopped using it and instead got Moto phone. Moto has the same 4GB but compared to Samsung is really fast and snappy.
Though Moto got one OS upgrade and will get no more. Samsung has got 3 updates and is on the latest Android 16.

A17 at $200 on Amazon. This is a great bundle if you want to lock in that $30-ish 1-year unlimited plan. That said, T-Mobile's network has always disappointed me, so this isn't the right deal for me.

Does anyone know if I can get this deal, put the phone in a drawer until it unlocks, and use my pixel on the plan instead of this phone?
When you first get the phone throw the mint sim in it so it's registered on the network. After that you can wait 60 days till unlock. There is a chance you might have to contact Mint and tell them to unlock if it does auto.
If you're pixel is already on Mint you will not be able to add the plan since it's for new customers.
