Actually this deal should be more clearly phrased $180 for 1 yr of unlimited of plan with A16, or $200 for 1 yr of unlimited plan with A17, prepaid.

I have the A16 5g, and it can simply not multitask due to the low ram ( 4gb ). I tried to go open Notes to get info to copy/paste for the browser, and by the time I switch back to the browser ( which is 15 seconds at the most ) the entire page has to be reloaded and I lose the form. If they had included just a little more ram, it would've been more than a usable phone. It's a real shame.

Avoid Samsung phones with 4GB ram, they are really slow. I have A15 and it is so slow that I stopped using it and instead got Moto phone. Moto has the same 4GB but compared to Samsung is really fast and snappy.Though Moto got one OS upgrade and will get no more. Samsung has got 3 updates and is on the latest Android 16.
Not sure what's the fascination with latest OS upgrades. It provides little to no value on old HW

You are worried about the camera... not that APPCLOUD is installed and this software actively spies on you and installs software without your permission... but you are worried about the camera? WOW...
Spying on a phone owner is different from taking a picture, isn't it?

When they spy on you using your camera... I do not see the difference. Do you?

I bought a Pixel 9 from them, bloat free. If there is bloat on this, it would be courteousy of Samsung.

Not that you should even bother. 4GB of RAM is straight up trash on a phone in 2026. Just like it was in 2021.
don't worry, there is no bloat on this phone... cleaner OS then Google.

Though Moto got one OS upgrade and will get no more. Samsung has got 3 updates and is on the latest Android 16.
It is the bloatware, RAM, hard drive speed and CPU... BUT with samsung low end phones it comes down to the BLOATWARE... it is EXTREME.

It makes total sense that Samsung would be REALLY SLOW when a moto phone would be SO MUCH FASTER... moto is known for near stock experience with little bloatware that can mostly be removed.

The issue I got is there is only three companies that provide ALL the bands to ALL the US networks... Samsung, Apple and Google. Based on that I must be a google pixel person for life.

And back to your comment.. it is not the OS, or amount of updates... it comes down to BLOATWARE and SPYWARE and moto has near stock google feel with very little bloat and ZERO spyware and SAMSUNG IS THE KING of bloatware and the KING of spyware. Not only is Samsung the worst regarding bloatware and spyware... they have also been the most vulnerable phones in the last two years due to all the third party apps and their twist on the OS that messes with everything... Samsung has been fighting with Google for over a decade regarding phone software... that may be the reason why Google is coming out with a NEW OS, one that combines chrome books and android... one that they will have FULL control over... unlike what Samsung is doing today or has done to Android.

Like not only is Samsung spying on you 24/7 (making your phone SLOW)... they are also installing apps WITHOUT your concent (making your phone SLOW). And I am sure when they install those apps without your permission, they are allowing for everything (notifications, alerts, etc... ) making the phone even slower. It gets to a point where it becomes a hassel to use your phone when Moto which had the same hardware will still work smoothly.

Now I will talk specs....
I have been saying for about 3 years... the "slowest" your CPU should be is a G99 or SD695, well... this CPU is the exact same speed (+-1-2%).

So if you do get this phone, it is the slowest a device that I would recommend BUT the 4GB of RAM kills the deal. Google has required a minimum of 6GB of RAM for any phone that starts with Android 16... these phones start with Android 15 so they don't have to follow the new rules. The point is, how do you expect this phone to function in a few years with all the new updates... specifically all the new bloat that comes with each new OS version.

People have already commented on how slow this phone is.

If you know how to tinker with the phone apps, specifically... you have a PC and can use ADB debugging to disable and eliminate what you can.

Lastly, these phone have the app... APPCLOUD. This is the app the downloads things without your permission based on your behavior. Appcloud is extreme bloatware and many people call it spyware.

People think that if your phone gets updates that it is safe to use. IMHO, Samsung's phones don't give you all the google updates because so many of them interfere with Samsung's One UI (their OS), this has been proven many times.

I agree that when you have only 4GB of RAM, updates usually hurt you not help you.

You could check the Galaxy Store settings to avoid the automatic downloading of apps.
Go to Settings - Apps - Galaxy Store - Mobile Data > Allow background data usage: toggle it off.
Now go back one step and select Change system settings - Allow permission- Toggle it off.
Go back a step again, Select Install unknown apps - Allow from this source- Toggle it off.

Anyone know how much time you have between ordering or receiving the phone and having to activate it? I still have a couple of months left on my current yearly plan...
