This is a model kit, at first I thought it was just a figure. Want it for my display but don't need it!

You'll want to have a basic modeling kit (not necessary, but it will definitely come out better). Maybe watch a gunpla basics build video on YT. But Bandai kits are better than traditional kits in my opinion, since you don't have to use glue and the color out of the box is decent enough that it should look good with something like GSI Creos Mr. Hobby Clear Top Coat Flat Matt Spray or Tamiya TS-80 Flat Clear Spray sprayed over it. Panel liners/Gundam markers can help bring out details as well.

None of this is necessary. There are some people who are happy to build straight out of the box and call it a day. But it helps to make it look less like a toy and more like a miniature version of the real thing.

My 9 yearold and I managed to build the AT-AT model together. The instructions are pretty thorough.
