This Legion Pro 5 pairs a 16 inch 1600p OLED 165Hz display with a Ryzen 7 8745HX, RTX 5060, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD, making it strongest as a premium screen gaming laptop with generous memory. The 32GB configuration stands out because upgrading laptop RAM is costly right now, and the OLED panel gets praise for brightness and image quality. The main knocks are the $1180 price, the 8GB VRAM limit, and the lack of USB4 on this CPU version. It is a solid fit if display quality and memory matter more than chasing the cheapest 5060.

  • Buyers who need 32GB of memory now, because upgrading laptop RAM later can cost a lot and this configuration already includes it.

  • Gamers who want a premium 16-inch panel, because the 1600p 165Hz OLED display is a standout upgrade over cheaper gaming laptops.

  • Shoppers comparing midrange gaming laptops, because the RTX 5060 performance is close to a 5070 while this model includes 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.

  • People who want a well-built gaming laptop under a grand, because cheaper XX60 models are described as having worse screens and build quality.

  • Shoppers focused on pure gaming value, because $1,180 for an RTX 5060 is described as overpriced versus nearby 5070 and refurb alternatives.

  • Gamers who expect top-tier graphics headroom, because the RTX 5060 has only 8GB of VRAM and can fall behind 12GB cards in demanding games.

  • Buyers who need USB4 connectivity, because this configuration does not have USB4.

  • People who want a stable gaming machine out of the box, because one unit hard-crashed under load and needed CPU limits plus full-speed fans to stay usable.

I bought it in Christmas when it was 1,300. Good machine. I haven't had any problems with it.

Do only people who game use this? Is any legion laptop not good for someone who doesn't game?

How does this compare to an old xps 15 9520 laptop that has i7-12700h processor and 32gb ram and Intel xe graphics and Nvidia 3050?

How is the battery on this when not doing any gaming? Say web browse and YouTube? I recall it was said as long as you turn off the rtx 5060, then the battery would be normal? Since it is a Ryzen processor, what is the regular graphics card? For Intel, it's Intel xe graphics. For Ryzen, it's what?
If you are not gaming, and only use it for web browsing and other light tasks, get a Macbook. Amazing battery life, far better display, far more stable OS.

Uh, it has a USB4 port and a USB-C 3.2 gen 2 port with PD and DP 1.4.
*Edit*
Damn, even though it's a Legion 5 gen 10 because it has the 8745HX instead of the 260 it actually doesn't have USB4. My apologies. I guess that's one reason this is so cheap.

Better display? That's highly debatable, 1600p 165Hz OLED with 500nits is arguably better than any Macbook in this price range.

There is no debate that my Macbook's display is far better than my Legion's OLED display (I have this very same Legion).

I've got a Macbook Air M2 and I definitely think my Legion's OLED is significantly better.

3060/4060/5060 laptops use to float around $799 now its $1200 which is 3070/4070/5070 territory. There's a sucker born every minute huh?

There are still plenty of XX60 laptops floating in that price range of under a grand. They are not, nor have they ever been Legion Pros though. I should know, I literally upgraded from a Legion 3070 pro 5 from 4 years ago recently. That one cost me about 1200 before cashback, and was a front page qualifying deal back then.

You can still buy 800~ dollar XX60s on sale, and they still have garbage screens, and garbage build quality (unless it's a Lenovo LOQ I guess, the HP Victus is also surprisingly sturdy feeling).

But you aren't getting a top tier display and build quality for a XX60 at 800 and you never have with any consistency.

Edit: also a $800 3060 would be a 975 3060 adjusting for baseline inflation today. So yeah this is a great deal.

Ram is alot easier to upgrade than the GPU. So get the better gpu and upgrade the ram later
Ram is absolutely not easier to upgrade in this current economy. Plus the 5060 and 5070 mobile benches very similarly. You're missing a few frames in the big picture and they're both only 8gb vram which kinda sucks in the end, but they make it work.

Concerned about the 5060 8gb of vram, is that enough? I've read you need at least 12 - 16 gb of vram but maybe for a laptop is ok.

Maybe this product was sold 10 times for $1,150.
The current price is $1,180, so of course it's not a good deal.

Not a good price for a 5060. We have 5070 deals at this price now. And this has been as low as $1049-$1099. Idk why this is being thumbed up.
The value of 32gb of ram and 1tb SSD has changed. Yes it's a good deal. This is also the 16 inch pro model
