This Legion Pro 5 pairs a 16 inch 1600p OLED 165Hz display with a Ryzen 7 8745HX, RTX 5060, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD, making it strongest as a premium screen gaming laptop with generous memory. The 32GB configuration stands out because upgrading laptop RAM is costly right now, and the OLED panel gets praise for brightness and image quality. The main knocks are the $1180 price, the 8GB VRAM limit, and the lack of USB4 on this CPU version. It is a solid fit if display quality and memory matter more than chasing the cheapest 5060.
The deal can be compelling for buyers who prioritize a premium OLED screen over chasing higher GPU tiers.
The configuration can be a better value when 32GB DDR5 pricing is high.
The 16-inch OLED upgrade can cost less than buying additional 16GB RAM separately.
The laptop can deliver stable performance for some buyers after purchase.
The RTX 5060's 8GB VRAM can limit gaming performance compared with higher-VRAM options.
The RTX 5060 price can feel weak compared with RTX 5070 deals at similar pricing.
The laptop can experience severe stability issues, including CPU overheating and hard crashes during games.
The listing value can be questioned if the product was previously sold near $1,150 and is now priced around $1,180.

How does this compare to an old xps 15 9520 laptop that has i7-12700h processor and 32gb ram and Intel xe graphics and Nvidia 3050?
How is the battery on this when not doing any gaming? Say web browse and YouTube? I recall it was said as long as you turn off the rtx 5060, then the battery would be normal? Since it is a Ryzen processor, what is the regular graphics card? For Intel, it's Intel xe graphics. For Ryzen, it's what?
*Edit*
Damn, even though it's a Legion 5 gen 10 because it has the 8745HX instead of the 260 it actually doesn't have USB4. My apologies. I guess that's one reason this is so cheap.

There are still plenty of XX60 laptops floating in that price range of under a grand. They are not, nor have they ever been Legion Pros though. I should know, I literally upgraded from a Legion 3070 pro 5 from 4 years ago recently. That one cost me about 1200 before cashback, and was a front page qualifying deal back then.
You can still buy 800~ dollar XX60s on sale, and they still have garbage screens, and garbage build quality (unless it's a Lenovo LOQ I guess, the HP Victus is also surprisingly sturdy feeling).
But you aren't getting a top tier display and build quality for a XX60 at 800 and you never have with any consistency.
Edit: also a $800 3060 would be a 975 3060 adjusting for baseline inflation today. So yeah this is a great deal.
The current price is $1,180, so of course it's not a good deal.
And this has been as low as $1049-$1099. Idk why this is being thumbed up.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
