LOL, what are you people doing where you can't even do basic tasks with 16GB of ram? How many dozens upon dozens of tabs do you have open in Chrome.....all playing videos at the same time? Seriously, 16GB of ram is fine for 90% of office / school type users if don't let your PC get bogged down with bloatware*, 'extensions*,' and / or malicious software*.
*what I think most of the problem is. People either blame the laptop for their misuse or over compensate the specs not realizing they are just countering the overhead of their own, again, misuse.

My wife opens her work laptop from the edges (or her elbow when she wants to do it single handed), I also have a few coworkers with that bad habit. They magically all suffer from hinge issues...can't see what the connection might be Wink

That being said, it is the only moving part on 99% of laptops, so is also the most likely point of failure. I personally never had a problem with any of my Lenovo hinges even getting loose, completely anecdotal I admit.

16gb kills it for me. I bought one with 16gb. Just awful for modern apps. Only chrome with few tabs and WhatsApp runs on 12 gb already. 16gb is not enough at all

Amen, it doesn't matter and I just did the exercise for fun. And personally I find AI right as often as it is wrong, so anything that it outputs should be taken with a grain of salt.

Yes, with a 5050. Typing it on it now. Expanded to 32 with a 16gb sodimm and added 1tb nvme in the vacant pcie slot. Also, its a LOC Lenovo which is a step up. No Oled though, but thats no big deal as its used for gaming and static images alot so burn in worries. The LOC's have better dispalys than the standard IdeaPads and 144 hz refresh rates.

I stand corrected and that's pretty sweet rig and price actually, 99% of the time when people complain about "soldered" ram they'll either link to a 5 year old DD4 machine or a $2000 mobile work station. Removable (or empty) DDR5 ram slots are unicorns under $1000....so much so it is almost not worth discussing. Kind of like having a conversation about what you'll do when you win the lottery shouldn't life plans nor (do I feel) if there is a free ram slot should be dead horse beaten in very thread when it is super uncommon @ this price point.
FWIW, lack of OLED isn't a big deal to me but a lot of the price was likely saved there.

And I didn't think the person was making it up, just confusing things. People love (perhaps not on purpose) to conflate several different ideas / concepts / products into a single mythological conglomeration or remember something they saw 'just the other day' when it actually occurred when someone named Bush was president Wink
In this case it turned out to be correct though.

Nice to know there is a single DDR5 machine sub $1000 with a free ram slot, thus why we have to beat this dead horse over and over and over again in every other laptop thread ad nauseam when the other 99.9% don't have the same thing.

*Not to mention with current ram prices, you better buy the ram you want already installed because upgrading ain't going to be cheap.

I have the older IdeaPad Pro 5 with RTX 3050, OLED 1920x1200, etc and love it. Paid $450 after tax New from Lenovo last summer. Build quality is fantastic - feels super rigid for such a large laptop (usually large cheaper laptops have flex).

Whoever buys from Lenovo, make sure to calculate your sales tax, I purchased one few days back and it calculated wrong tax while placing the order. So my credit card charged with higher amount compared to what I have received in order confirmation email, now I'm struggling to get difference amount of refund from last week. Their system is having tax calculations errors during check out, pls double check while placing the order.
