The leakage was caused more noise to leak through and not allowing the NC to fully engage.
I picked up XM6 and PX7 S3 to compare. Obviously those are different devices, but speaking generally:
- ANC: Sony blows B&W out of the water, to the point where I had to seriously evaluate my motivations for getting headphones
- Build quality: B&W blows Sony out of the entire water park. Sony feels like a plastic toy that you can snap in half if you apply enough force. B&W is a premium device made with metals and very comfortable ear pads.
- Sound quality: B&W is noticeably better SPECIFICALLY when you compare them back-to-back. Sony just sounds so muffled once you put on the B&W. Everyone talks about bass on Sony, but bass is PX7 strong point too, to the point where I had to tune it down. PX7 downside is that sometimes it has piercing highs, especially high hat cymbals. It was pretty fatiguing before I got used to it. Overall, PX7 clarity is just significantly superior to Sony.
I did in fact evaluate my priorities, and I decided that FOR ME, sound quality was the most important factor, and I knew I would be disappointed if I picked up the Sony. So I stuck with B&W, which FOR ME has been an amazing choice, since I have used it to listen at home, and am enjoying a level of clarity I have never heard in my other devices.
Note: I got both headphones last BF when they had pretty deep discounts for open box on Amazon. Each one was around the $250 range.

Sonys are better in noise cancelling. But the B&Ws should sound better, but preferred sound is subjective.
