They were free after Menards store credit rebate a week ago. The one I got works, but the power connector is recessed in the base so you are supposed to plug a little connector into the controller that protrudes in order to establish connection. I see potential that you could damage your controller if anyone in your house handles controllers carelessly or roughly.

Be very wary about these chargers that have the little plug in adapter piece that goes onto the controller. If it gets lost you won't be able to charge. Plus it's just a pain to deal with. Spend the extra couple $ and get one that you can just set the controller on without an adapter. Thank me later.

And, dont buy the official PS charging dock, i thought its official how bad can it be, pain to seat the controllers. I dont know why they made it so bad.

I've been using this exact one for at least 2-3 years, it has no issue. Once the adapter plugged in, you don't really have to pull it out anymore. Furthermore, if you pull that adapter out, you can leave it in the dock so it doesn't get lost.

I own this. Works great. I plug it into the back of the PS5 so that it is only charging for a few hours after I shut it off.
