It seems that there is really a huge oversupply of 5500's instead of processors containing on board video.

Most AM4 cpus didn't have igpus... Only the "G" processors did.
  • I believe the 5500 is a 5600G with the igpu disabled.
  • 5500 has half the cache as a Ryzen 5600...
  • Plus 5500 is limited to PCIE 3.0, while even the Ryzen 3600 has double the cache and has PCIE 4.0.
  • 5500 is an entry level gaming cpu.

Did Newegg accidently order too many of those little Rosewill Dusters? They seem to be cropping up in a bunch of combos.

My guess is it costs them $5-10 and it's actually a helpful "freebie" to toss in. One similar to it is on the FP with 1000 upvotes for $20.
