Bob's Red Mill steel cut oats stand out for hearty texture, nutty flavor, and how well they work for overnight oats. They cook into a filling breakfast, and the leftovers keep for about a week, making them easy to batch prep. The main drawback is time, since stovetop cooking takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Price comparisons also point to cheaper bulk options elsewhere, so this fits best if you want the Bob's package and convenience.

  • These steel cut oats can be used for overnight oatmeal with hot water, then microwaved in the morning.

  • The oats can be made very filling and work well with add-ins like blueberries, cranberries, and walnuts.

  • The oats deliver a nutty flavor and a good texture when cooked or prepared as overnight oats.

  • Subscribe and Save with a coupon can bring the 4-pack to about 10.6 cents per ounce, which is comparable to bulk pricing.

  • The deal may be less cost-effective than other options like Aldi pricing or Amazon Grocery steel cut quick oats.

  • The steel cut oats take about 20 minutes to cook, so they require morning planning.

  • The oats are not explicitly certified glyphosate-free, so certification may be needed for reassurance.

  • Oat products can be a concern for pesticide exposure, with glyphosate mentioned as a key issue.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

if you eat steel cut oats daily, you're better off buying the 50lb bag from country life natural foods (also available on amazon). the stuff keeps great and pricing is much better in bulk.

Actually the 4-pack of 54oz Steel Cut Oats (13.5lbs) is 23.03 right now with subscribe and save and the applied coupon. That's 10.6 cents per ounce, or about the same as the Country Life but in an easier to use package.

I wonder how these compare to the steel cut oats I get at Lidl, 30oz for $2.95. Lately I've been stirring a big spoonful of peanut butter into them, the heat melts the peanut butter and makes it really creamy. Get some good fats going, very filling and tasty.

If anyone is interested in getting into oatmeal, I use this to cook it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGF82N13. It has a dedicated steel cut oats setting and also is great at cooking quinoa easily (the costco quinoa bag is a killer value and comes pre-washed). The cooker regularly goes on sale, can get it for $35-$40 if you don't need it right away. Works fantastic but does take 25 min.

Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth. They're a gluten-free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.
The problem is oatmeal for whatever reason is really high in pesticide, which is mainly roundup (glyphosate).

nothing, you'd have to buy their organic oatmeal for that, luckily it's the same price:

No coupon on the organic unfortunately.

Same here: I add a drizzle molasses, add a small amount of cream, and follow with some pre-germinated (yum!) pumpkin seeds from Costco.

Yes farmers spray glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) on oat crops shortly before harvest to kill the plant, which dries them out and creates a more uniform, easier harvest.and that's why we use Bob's organic steel cut oats.
