One of the lowest we've seen was $149 in January, but this still matches previous Frontpage deals so a really good deal imo.

HIGHLY recommend these if you're in the market. These are the same internals as the much more expensive ($450+) HD650 pair.

Community Reviews

The HD 6XX is a warm, mid focused open back headphone that shares the same internals as the pricier HD650, and it has a long track record as a durable daily listen. The sound stays engaging on older or poorly recorded tracks, with an intimate presentation that still reveals plenty of detail. Comfort is generally good, though the clamp can feel firm at first and may need headband adjustment. The nonstandard connector makes mic add ons awkward, and replacement ear pads can be a meaningful future cost, making this a strong value if you want classic Sennheiser sound.

Common Questions (5)

  • No, the headphone-side connector is not a standard 3.5mm jack, so a BoomPro-style mic does not plug in directly. A separate mic setup or adapter is needed instead.

    IlovedealsIlovedealsCMoney408

  • The HD 6XX is a warmer version of the HD600, with strong mids and a more intimate soundstage. That tuning can be especially appealing if you want a smoother, less bright presentation.

    SmilingRiver528kungpowchicken123artifiz

  • Yes, the HD 6XX has noticeable clamp force at first. The headband can be carefully bent to reduce it over time, and the fit is generally described as more clampy than some alternatives.

    SmilingRiver528SplendidSofa5250

  • $159 matches prior Frontpage deals, though it is not the absolute lowest seen; a $149 price appeared in January. It is still considered a strong buy for the HD 6XX's performance at this price.

    Eragorn

  • The HD 6XX uses the same internals as the much more expensive HD650. That makes it a popular way to get the HD650-style sound without paying the full retail price.

I mainly jump between my Aryas and R70x Refine, but I'll be damned if I said I don't like a more intimate soundstage of the HD6XX sometimes.
i was too late on getting the r70x, most of the spots are sold out, others are way too expensive...i want to try the aryas, stealth, or organic

Is it worth upgrading from the HD 598 special edition? I've had them for 10 years and theyre running strong so I dont feel the need but, am I missing out?
I hope my comment will be useful 🙂https://slickdeals.net/f/19143475-massdrop-x-sennheiser-hd-6xx-headphones-149?p=182161279#post182161279

I had HD600s until I screwed up (misdiagnosed the problem, opened one of the ear pieces, stored it for a year, lost ear piece(I think a niece or nephew took it)). If anybody has experience comparing these to other headphones, would you recommend anything else above these, in that sub-$250 price range? I'm considering getting new headphones and am wrestling with the idea of replacing these. I liked them but I sort of agree with some reviewers that they lack warmth and don't have enough bass...and I have almost no other headphone experience. This price is tempting.
These 6xx are a warmer version of the hd600 so you might be very happy with these especially if you prioritize quality mids. Sony mv1 would be my next suggestion but thats more than 250

How are these regarding comfort and cooling compared to the Philips SHP-9500?

My ears get hot easily with headphones, and the SHP-9500 are the only ones i can wear for hours without my ears getting uncomfortably hot.

Thanks for any input

Definitely more clampy but you can fix that by carefully bending the headband and warmer. The fabric on the shp is cooler than 6xx more confined velour earcups

the 9500's are one of a kind and have zero clamp force. These are like the hd 600 and have some average clamp force but you can stretch them out.

Jeez, $159? The HD6XX was already a pretty incredible value.

Have you heard of this place called Amazon? They have several models less than $30, and some less than $20.
