Community Reviews
This Cable Matters USB4 cable is aimed at buyers who need certified 80Gbps bandwidth in a 4.9 foot length, with 240W charging and Thunderbolt 5 and 4 compatibility. The main appeal is the combination of speed, power, and certification in a longer cable, which is harder to find at lower prices. It also has a solid brand reputation in the thread. The main caveat is price, since similar cables can cost less if you only need 40Gbps or can accept a shorter, less certified option. A practical pick when the full spec matters.
The cable is positioned as USB-IF certified for 80Gbps and 240W, which supports high-end USB4 and charging use cases.
The deal can be attractive because the main value is the 80Gbps bandwidth rather than the 240W power delivery.
A shorter ~4ft option has been reported to work well after a 30% off coupon, even though transfer speed was not tested.
Compared with some alternatives, this Cable Matters option is described as USB-IF certified while certain LTT cables are not certified.
The 80Gbps spec may be unnecessary for many buyers, and cheaper cables can be cheaper because they are not certified or not this long.
Cable Matters cables have been reported to fail after about three months, which can force early replacement.
Bad customer service has been reported alongside failing cables, which can add friction when troubleshooting or replacing.
The connectors on a cheaper alternative are described as relatively large or long, which may increase stress on the port.

At this price, the LTT TrueSpec cable might be a better option
- They don't make a 40gbps 5ft speed cable much less an 80gbps one
- Their 5ft cable is only 20gbps
- It's $27+shipping, so closer to $40 for most folks
...in other words, not a 'better option' if you want a longer 80gbps capable cable.- They don't make a 40gbps 5ft speed cable much less an 80gbps one
