Well really more like $1.40/pod, but you can buy loose pods on Ebay and get em closer to $1 or so.

Great price for the machine though keep in mind the pods are proprietary and much more expensive nowadays. Usually $2 per cup now.

You can buy little silicone "lids" that you put on the pod. I've been using 3 of the lids for like 3 years and they've worked pretty well, I place a cut coffee filter underneath the silicon lid, but I've not had them at points and it works just fine without the filter. You just want to periodically swap out the pods with new ones as they start to get pretty dark and beat up, those pods are pretty thin so they get little dents in them. But places like Target sell cheaper-ish pods. I bought a box of like 8 starbucks pods over a year ago and I still have 4 of them unused yet.

I've been using the foil lids but silicone lids sounds even more economical in the long run. I do make a batch at once to last a few days but doesn't look like I can do that with the silicone lids since there are holes.

All Keurig/Nespresso machines are meant to last 2 years. Best Buy offers GeekSquad for 3/5 years but only offers 2 years on this machine. Buying the 2 year GeekSquad brings the price in line with Amazon ($100) but Amazon allows you to purchase up to 4 years.

Yup, I usually stack 3-6 months worth of Vertuo pods whenever they go on sale. $1 per pod is good enough for me. My Vertuo machine is the only coffee maker I've owned that tastes good enough to replace my local coffee shop.

Speak from experience of owning 2 of this exact model made by De'Longhi... No leak issue here.
