The solar panel on these things is a gimmick. I calculated that it would take roughly 760 hours of continuous direct sunlight to charge this thing. I've had one sitting in a window at an optimal angle for over a year and it has never increased its charge by one bar. In direct sunlight (not thru glass), it could charge quicker, but you obviously can't leave it outside to do that, so there is little point to it.

I was going to ask this very question, if anyone knew how long it would take to charge that way
