Well I tried. Bur around the DMV Family Dollar Stores are generally run down, small, poorly stocked, and have reduced staffing to just the 1 cashier. So I just walk out.

Took my mother there earlier as she wanted to get some pepsi. They were running a weekly deal on 12 packs 3 for $15. So, got 6 for $30.
$10 off $30 storewide, plus $5 off $20 P&G products (for whatever reason, this coupon also applied), which brought the total to $15 + tax and deposit for 6 12 packs (or $2.50 per). Haven't seen prices that low in at least 15 years.

Also, there was no need to scan anything like OP says. Just clip the coupon to your account and enter your phone number at checkout.

I'm the OP. I did not say anything about scanning. And you definitely do not need the app on a phone! That's an SD editor attempting to "enhance" my post! 🙄
Both Family Dollar and Dollar General only require you load the e-coupons to your account on a device (phone, computer, laptop, ipad). So you do need an account. Then, while at checkout, simply enter your phone number associated with your account to redeem your loaded e-coupons.
