If you want 120 Hz in a 42 inch, you are basically looking at Samsung, LG, or Sony. Also, LG's 2025 OLED C5 and G5 support up to 144 Hz now, I think.
If you move up to 55 inch, a lot more sets support 120 to 144 Hz, and some even go to 165 Hz. The Hisense U7 supports 165 Hz through some kind of additional chip. I have only looked at the specs and have not done deep research on how they are pulling off 165 Hz, but it does support it. And it is around $550 plus tax.
I am on my fifth LG OLED, and for desktop use OLED is amazing. Mini LED gets very close, too. I am currently using the LG OLED C5 and it has been great. Sitting next to it is an LG OLED C2, also 42 inch.
Right now, or at least last week, you could grab the 2025 LG OLED C5 for around $700 plus tax. The 2025 sets are basically on closeout now since the new models start launching around June.
If you want a cheap 50 inch that does native 144 Hz, Walmart sells a 50 inch Philips for around $350. The reviews seem solid, around 4.2 to 4.4 on Walmart.com. Link below.

Fun fact: TCL manufactured a few of BlackBerry's latest phones.
Use case : mostly just watching Netflix or any other streaming service while I'm on my bike trainer for 1-3 hours. It gets very boring otherwise. A TV That is good working between 45-85 C temps would be fine in this garage in Washington state (Seattle area).
Is this TV good for my use case? Anything else you'd recommend?

If you're interested in just movies/Netflix it shouldn't matter much.
