It works in systems without Resizable Bar, you just lose performance in 3D ( I did not see encode / decode performance changes w/ my Arc A380, but that's all I'm using it for in my truenas boxes)

I have read that is it near performance to the nvidia 3060 (12gb) or the 6600/6650 xt for AMD

if you want as a plex transcoder, unless your going for a massive number of streams this is overkill. for a few streams do a a310, for a few more, do an a380. both use less power and are basically gold standard for plex right now for transcoding.

Yes unfortunatly. These cards would be amazing for older systems.

You might be able to enable rebar on your system, though.

Did you check your bios to see if you motherboard has Rebar? Because if I'm not mistaken Intel 8700k supports Rebar. You just have to check of your board has it. There might be a BIOS update if it doesn't.
Intel Core i7-8700K and Resizable BAR Support
Compatibility Overview

The Intel Core i7-8700K processor can support Resizable BAR (Base Address Register) functionality, but this support is dependent on several factors:
  • Motherboard: The motherboard must have a compatible BIOS that supports Resizable BAR.
  • BIOS Settings: Users need to enable both "Above 4G Decoding" and "Resizable BAR Support" in the BIOS settings.
  • Graphics Card: The graphics card must also support Resizable BAR. Most modern GPUs, including newer models from NVIDIA and AMD, have this feature.
Steps to Enable Resizable BAR
  1. Update BIOS: Ensure your motherboard's BIOS is updated to the latest version.
  2. Access BIOS Settings: Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup.
  3. Enable Settings:
    • Find and enable "Above 4G Decoding."
    • Enable "Resizable BAR Support."
  4. Save and Exit: Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
Conclusion

If your motherboard and graphics card support Resizable BAR, and you have the correct BIOS settings, then the Intel i7-8700K can utilize this feature.

Considering the current market and the need for a cost-effective graphics card, this refurbished Intel ARC A750 is an excellent choice, especially for building a budget-friendly gaming or general-purpose PC. I was very close to buying one myself a couple of years ago when they were priced around $230, but ultimately decided on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. Now, with this deal, it seems like a great opportunity to get a solid card without breaking the bank.

I'm finding out GPU's are expensive. Guess I'll be sticking with my little 1660 super.

What size psu would this require? Wouldnt mind adding it to an older acer as an upgrade for a plex box.

I'm clearly out of the loop, but I'm planning on making some upgrades to my nas in the next year or so... what's the use case for dedicated graphics in a nas box?

RTX 3060, RX 6650XT I believe. Maybe only RX 6600 on the AMD-side -respectable for $140. Anywhere between 45% and 20% slower than a B580 depending on the game for non-RT gaming. The b580 was a huge step up in consistency, RT performance, and top-end performance -but those are costing $300 right now so $140 for this sort of performance is looking great.

it's a shame that 10-15% off ebay app coupon code never works
on first time buy thru app over $50usd, otherwise i'd use it on this.

to that nas question, just pick any cpu with an igpu
a nas box should not need a gpu card at all.

Isn't this terrible for servers? The idle power usage is really high.
