These "suck" 80% of them failed within a week, ended up getting a refund from Amazon and now they just keep clothes safe but vac portion always fails.

I'm experiencing and hearing that most of these are temporary on the vacuum seal. It is still less air so far (3 weeks in longest I left without decompressing again), where if before the bag is 100% it went to 40%, but now back to 70%.

These are great for short trips or transit. Wouldn't recommend for long term storage because they won't hold vacuum

Generally positive experience with this amazon brand. I've had some that last for years and some that deflate in less than a year. I would also underpack the bags and use more bags. You will be able to stack more easily and organize better.

Do you have any recommended brands that don't suck?

You should be able to download all the vacuum in your head, pack it and store it, easily.

You should not run out of space

You can store the canister vacuum in the jumbo bags; not sure on the upright. Hand held vacuums can fit into the smaller bags. 🤣

Are these better for travel than compression bags that don't require a vacuum ?

The only one I tried that worked for one season was spacesaver. After one year they too lost vacuum. So I would say the entire product in general "sucks".
