This Rubbermaid gallon pitcher stands out as a low cost, leak resistant container for mixing drinks and storing liquids or dry goods. The seal can hold well, it works for powdered drinks, and the size is handy for fridge storage, pantry staples, or even rice and beans. The main drawback is the lid, which can sit crooked, misalign the spout, or spill if it is not sealed just right. The clear plastic can also absorb color and, with warm contents, may pick up flavors. A practical pick if the lid quirks are acceptable.
People storing dry pantry staples, because the sealed container helps keep moisture and bugs out.
It can leak or pour crooked if the lid is not fully sealed or ends up misaligned when screwed on. The spout design also lacks a breathing hole, which can make pouring inconsistent and cause spills, though the seal can hold well when fitted correctly.
It works for mixing drinks and fridge storage, but the clear plastic can absorb colors and flavors from warm liquids. It is better suited to water or dry pantry storage than to strongly colored or flavored beverages.
The current $5.47 price is in line with the usual $5-6 range mentioned for similar pitchers, and well below the roughly $15-20 Amazon price range some shoppers found. That makes this deal notably cheaper than typical online pricing.
Like the idea of using for rice..or maybe for salt to sprinkle on the walk in winter?
Pet food?
Use these instead: https://www.walmart.com/ip/17056880
Best of all... they are basically FREE.
I store almost everything in them... rice, lentils, beans. pet food etc.
I'm assuming this is using the same lid on the smaller 2qt version which I use every day. At first I hated the lid/spout because of a few reasons,
It doesn't always line up perfectly when you screw it shut, its usually a few degrees off center from where you expect it to be
It does randomly leak from time to time if you dont seal it all the way.
but the main thing is I guess to keep the lid slim they dont really have a spout, its just a flat piece of plastic that I guess channels the liquid from the opening. this along with no breathing hole leads to inconsistent pouring and spillage.
annoying but as I said I still use it as I needed something small that I could mix things in and store it in the fridge and this is pretty much the best thing they had at walmart at the time.
I haven't really tested anything over than mixing powdered drinks in it but it seals well if you hold down the tab with your hands while you shake it, otherwise it will open and spill.

The seal can hold well for everyday mixing and fridge storage when the lid is fully secured.
The pitcher can work for pantry storage by helping keep moisture and bugs out.
The pitcher can be useful for dry goods storage like rice, lentils, beans, and pet food.
The pitcher can pour without spilling when the tab is held down during shaking.
The lid alignment can be off-center, which can cause crooked pouring and mess.
The pitcher can randomly leak if the lid is not sealed fully.
The plastic can absorb colors from contents, and soaking may not remove the staining.
The lid can be awkward for right-handers when over-tightening misaligns the spout and handle.

However, it is an EXCELLENT short-grain rice container.
