Well known with latitude models. Great if you have a dock.

The HP Elitebook requires the entire keyboard/palmrest to be removed and gutted for replacement. Every laptop sucks in one way or another.

The Elitebook G8 is a better overall deal for less. This processor is a battery hogger.

These are fairly sturdy,* moderately serviceable (RAM, SSD, CPU fan, and battery can be replaced), the screen is acceptable for business use and indoor lighting (color accuracy is rather meh), and it apparently has fairly decent battery life, although I wouldn't expect more than an hour or two in reality.

Note that the model in the review has a GeForce, whereas the one in this Slickdeals post uses integrated Intel CPU graphics, so don't expect much in the 3D department. Also note that this review is from four years ago, although I'd say it probably has another 2-3 years of useful performance, depending on one's patience. https://laptopmedia.com/review/de...e-15-5521/

*-We use a lot of these with the lower-power U-series CPUs at work; they seem to have a decent enough 5 year lifespan for our typical upgrade interval. Though I prefer the ThinkPad E14/16 series for the improved keyboard and slightly increased reliability.

I had this model from Dell refurbished and would avoid the H series Intel processor in the 14 inch body. It produced too much heat if you're actually using all the cores and the fan ran loudly. Also is the only laptop that I've had fail to the point where it wouldn't even boot to the bios on power up. This was basically used as a desktop replacement and never left my desk, but did get turned off at the end of every day. On the upside, it failed within the warranty and money was refunded upon return to the seller.

That is a good point about the hotter CPU. I've edited my comment above to note that our work ones are the lower-power U-series CPUs. I must admit, I have one of those hotter Intel laptop CPUs (albeit in a Lenovo, but similar single-fan design), and I do have to keep it propped up on the desk or else it becomes almost painfully warm, and the fan can be pretty intense.

I did like the form factor and would expect better reliability from the U series, just would advise to avoid the H series processors for others reading this thread.
