Excellent deal for that emergency phone to go in your vehicle's glove box or whatever. I've been using the TextNow free SIM service with my unlocked phone. Textnow SIM is like $10 and you use the free TextNow app for unlimited free calls and text messages. TextNow charges heavily for their wireless data BUT there is free data for select apps such as certain popular email, maps & rideshare apps. The list of apps that get free data on TextNow grows as time passes.

Be aware that RedPocket's customer service is mediocre at best. Make sure you set up voicemail ASAP because if you wait too many weeks it's impossible to get voicemail working properly no matter how much time you spend working with RedPocket support.

I bought one two months ago and the unlimited TEXT never worked. After the 200MB data is used up, the SMS text stopped working. Only iMessage works when there is wifi connection. I had to switch to another carrier.

That's why it's so cheap.

The 360 day 500 mb plan for $60 only includes 100 minutes and 100 text but this one has unlimited talk and text. Something seems off.

Love RedPocket. My kiddos have Nokia 225 phones with this plan. The call clarity is better than my 1000 iPhone

They make it so no matter what plan you pick, you'll probably run out of something and have to pay more.

You are correct that Red Pocket voicemail is lacking. The visual voicemail function is tenuous at best (at least for me). After hours with customer support I had to abandon their version and got YouMail. I am very happy with it.

Pre-paid plans expire after 90 days from your order date. Be sure to activate your calling plan prior to the expiration date.

It's been this price for a few years. I fail to see the slickdeal here.
