Unless you have allergies I've always heard the higher merv filters are worse for your HVAC system as they cause back pressure from the blower trying to force air through the filter and that's its best practice to get cheap ones and to change them monthly. So I just get these (it says single but it's a 4 pack for $7.50) https://www.walmart.com/ip/16225739
