This airplane Bluetooth transmitter and receiver is mainly useful for linking AirPods or other headphones to in flight entertainment, with easy pairing and solid battery life for long flights. It can run through a 16 hour trip without charging, and the sound quality is described as great, with LDAC versions standing out on better headphones. The main caveats are compatibility limits for some AirPods models, possible Bluetooth audio lag, and a very bright blue LED that is distracting in a dark cabin. It is a handy travel adapter if your gear matches its supported versions.

  • The transmitter can run for long flights without needing charging during use.

  • The device can pair easily with AirPods and other headphones for in-flight listening.

  • LDAC-capable versions can produce an audible difference on compatible Sony headphones.

  • The sound quality is described as great when the device is used for airplane listening.

  • The adapter may not support AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, or AirPods 4 ANC models.

  • The blue LED ring can be extremely bright and distracting in a dark airplane cabin.

  • The device can introduce noticeable Bluetooth audio lag that makes action movies difficult to watch.

  • The transmitter may not handle advanced audio codecs like aptX HD.

If you fly enough that you're considering this, you should get over ear headphones like the Sony XM series or Bose QC series. They inherently block out 90% of the high and low pitch noises that over extended fly time degrade your ears ability to hear properly.
And as an added bonus, they have 3.5mm port so you can just buy the $2 cable and plug in 😊 no BLE audio compression artifacts, not that the in-seat entertainment unit puts out super high quality anyway.

Yep, these headphones are better. But also much, much bulkier than ANC buds..

You can get these for $4 on AliExpress.
I dunno, I bought a pair of cheap $5 versions. When I tried it out at home first, one would receive BT but not transmit it. The other would not work at all, receive nor transmit. If you found one that works, please post a link or a pic of it, there are many cheap versions out there.

I use the white version frequently during flights and generally like how it functions. However, there is one major flaw: the blue ring constantly blinks during use. In a dark airplane cabin, it is eye-blindingly bright and distracting. I actually had to cover mine with black tape so I wouldn't bother the passengers around me.
It's like these designers don't use their own products. Many, many products have blinding LEDs. Can't use them in a dark room or dark car without doing what you did, put tape over them Mad Some monitors and TVs have an excessively bright LED right on the front....

United Airlines Entertainment System is bluetooth capable now. I connected my Airpod Pro directly in a flight last week. Tech is growing fast & these Bluetooth connectors may soon become obsolete.

Was just gonna say something about that. I haven't timed it, but it's probably 3/4 of a second lag, which is horrible. It makes action movies unwatchable. I've gotten used to it with the actor/actresses' mouth not matching the words, but it's really annoying.

And it's doing this on 2 different set of Bluetooth headphones I have, both of which don't have any delay when watching on my phone, so this device is the culprit.

airplane in flight entertainment still sometimes uses headphone jack. although some now allow headphone pairing too

I've never been on a plane that allowed me to pair wireless bluetooth headphones. Maybe i'm flying ghetto airlines?

I'd imagine Emirates or Singapore would have something like that.

This.

They are game-changers. Reduce exhaustion from flying by so much. It's amazing how we don't even notice the affect noise has on our well-being.

How do people drive loud Chargers or Challengers? No wonder they drive like sociopaths!

Step 2 is hilarious
If this is UGREEN's utopian view of TV outputs, they need to restaff their usability experts!

Yes, but check the bluetooth version your earphones use. There's a chart in the pictures of the product page that shows what features it's compatible with for Bluetooth versions 6.0 vs 5.0 vs 5.4.
