FYI I tried to do this exact deal in December as an existing customer. I checked thoroughly for any sort of new customer requirements, but I found none. I couldn't activate the 1 year of service and customer service insisted it is only when bringing in an outside number. I had to switch to Tello for 2 days, then I could activate the mint year and port my number back in.

The carriers that overcharge you for service often give the best "deals" on new phones. You wouldn't believe how many people think they're saving money.

I just went through this with the last P10 deal back in Nov with 2 of them. You have to activate it on the Mint network to start the 60 day unlock countdown. Once its active you don't have to keep the phone active* on Mint (more to come on this). You can move the eSIM to another phone (We used iPhones) and toss the P10 in a drawer to check on it in 60 days. At the 60 day mark to get the unlock "code or signal" the P10 has to be active on the Mint network again. So you will have to move the eSIM back to the P10 and wait for the unlock code. You might have to chat or call the Mint CS for them to send the unlock code and it can take 12-24hrs to get. With mine it took 6 hours and I got the text on the P10 that it was unlocked. I then moved the eSIM back to the iPhone and activated the P10 on a different network.

One of the huge problems you may run into. Mint is real restrictive on how many eSIMs you request in a 30 day period. If you go over 5 you account will be locked and you cannot get another eSIM for 30 days. If you try to request another eSIM in that 30 days it starts the 30 day wait/ban over. One of the lines had this happen and we couldn't move the Mint line off the now unlocked P10 back to the iPhone for 30 days. Not a big deal unless its for a teen and you are ruining their life by making them use an andriod for 30+ days.

So Just the unlimited for me was $207 after taxes and their $25.xx recovery fee.

So not $20/mo, but $17.25 out the door....

$480+tax with a Pixel 10 is slick

Been using mint for years. If you're paying more and using another service, you're just a sucker.

Been with Mint for over 2 years now and nothing but a positive experience here. I get gigabit speeds on the tower near my home. I'm paying for the $20 per month plan (15 GB). Previously, I was with Verizon and was paying $90 per month and only got 1 or 2 bars of signal at my home.

Good deal. Just be aware that Mint Mobile runs on T-Mobile's network. Mint works great in my area, but I'm currently on Spectrum Mobile for a promotion.

Spectrum is utter trash in my area. It supposedly runs on Verizon's network. Routinely drops 5G for 4G, constantly switching between Spectrum Wifi and their mobile network (dropped calls, slow internet speeds, etc.) and doesn't even work in certain areas (no service, zero bars).

Make sure the service is good in your area and the areas you frequent.

Unrelated: My Mint service plan was due to expire in one day. I called to reach their retention dept. and negotiated to settle on a one-year "unlimited" which is typically $360 + $27 tax for $267. I'm sure others have scored better renewal deals.

I'm happy with their service in my big city. My ISP was offering one-year free mobile service with no separate 20 gb data allotment for hotspotting. I didn't want to roll the dice on possibly less reliable service even for free.

Mints plans annoy me, 20gb plan let's you use it as Hotspot and don't cap video speeds. Unlimited however gives 50gb restricts video playback to 480p(1-4mbps) unless you use a VPN and 10 or 20gb Hotspot.
