I shockingly had none of the games in the bundle and was interested in several, so this was a great deal. Thanks OP!

Don't look at the citadel creator's Twitter account if you don't want to see some disturbing stuff

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank freakingwilly

Never heard about digiphile before, but after looking them up, it seems they were created by ex-Humble Bundle veterans and they donate a portion of your purchase to charities. Some of the key benefits over Humble (and many other stores) is that you can trade unused keys towards the purchase of a different game.

Site is still in it's early stages (they launched about 3 months ago), so there's still some things they need to work out. Right now, you cannot set your splits between publishers, digiphile, and your donation. It defaults to 75/20/5 respectively (so a $20 purchase only donates $1 to charity).

They also give you your keys the moment you purchase, so there's no waiting. Looks cool and it'll be nice to have an alternative to Humble (I'm STILL waiting for my key of Boomerang Fu from 4 years ago).

I'm still confused by the use of the term Boomer here.

Never really made sense to me either. Even if you go back to the Doom, Duke 3D, etc days, those weren't "boomers" playing (or creating) those games so I have no idea why they are called Boomer Shooters. "Gen X shooter" would be more apt.

Also, many of the modern games called Boomer Shooters aren't even in that retro style. They are typically lazy (IMO) procedurally generated games with no real flow that that throw masses of enemies at you. So you might have a frantic feel however titles like Quake, Blood, Doom, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, etc were meticulously laid out in terms of map layout, flow, enemy placement, power ups, keys, etc. They might have had a million enemies rushing you but it was planned out with a buttload of thought. Playing a little Quake 1 and 2 currently and those games are night and day to most of the "boomer shooter" laziness that has released over the last 5-ish years. (Not saying the games can't be fun but don't belong in the same discussion)

All that being said, the only game in this bundle I have played is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun....and that is actually a very good modern take on the old school FPS. I don't like the term "boomer shooter" but I think Boltgun fits that genre 1000% percent. It is an old school shooter made in the modern era.

*FWIW, I'm not a boomer or gen x, so I really have no skin in this generational battle. Technically, I'm a really old millennial even if I grew up playing most of these games at release.
