Eh, it still makes cloudy ice. Even visible in the product photos that weren't doctored. Although apparently it makes a good hockey?

Two best options: 1. Distilled water. 2. Directional freezing. You will end up with sacrificial water/ice at the bottom. A bunch of good videos online.

This is the way
I spent 1 whole year perfecting the process, however the wife compained about how much freezer space my experiment was taking up

Something like this (I have a different but similar version). Freezes from the top down, forcing air and imperfections (I often use tap water!) out a small hole in the bottom of the mold.

Same thing exists for cubes. I have this exact one (but got it for less). Knockoffs abound.

A couple of tricks are to make sure you take them out before over-freezing and expanding (~24h), and to store them in a bag that keeps them from "defrosting", at least for a while (many options on AZ).

I'm still holding on of having a custom ice brander/stamp made (for the cubes).

Got similar ones from Costco, on clearance, for $4.97. Returned them after a week.
Sounded good in principle but ultimately turned out to be gimmicky.
