I just got this same model from BJ's Wholesale for the same price about a week ago. Loving it so far. There was a lot of bloatware to remove, but it performs very well. The display is good enough for general usage, and at $500, I'm impressed with the overall specs/performance.

Note, the description here is wrong. There is no Ethernet port on this laptop.

No touch screen or 2-in-1 with this one. I read that it is offered with a touchscreen option elsewhere, but likely not for this price.

Thanks for the info.
I always reformat any laptop I buy, then do a fresh install of Windows and/or Linux. I'd say it's the easiest way to completely remove all the bloatware.

I just bought this from Amazon, but I'm thinking about returning and getting this one instead.

Think it's worth it for the Ultra 7 processor and the 1TB hard drive? Are there other differences I'm missing? Seems like $40 more for those things is worth it?

Looks like you'd lose the touchscreen. But to me, the processor and storage upgrades are well worth the $40. However, if you are just using it for basic stuff like web browsing/streaming, I can understand wanting to keep the touchscreen. The Ultra 5 226v is still a great CPU and you could get external storage or swap the internal SSD down the road if you really needed to. I wanted the Ultra 7 for the 140V iGPU to do light gaming on the go (or while laying in bed). I have a gaming PC for the more demanding stuff, so I didn't need/want a more expensive laptop with a dedicated GPU.

what process did you use to remove the bloatware? a Sister in law (remote from me) is in need of a new laptop and i'm working with here over the phone so looking for an "easy" solution.

I removed everything that I didn't want manually by going into "Add or remove programs" from the Windows search bar. Then I went back to the search bar to find the Control Panel, and then opened up "Uninstall a program" to double check that the junk was gone from there as well. You may have to do this process again after letting Windows Updates, which re-added all the Microsoft 365 apps (Teams, OneDrive, etc) that I had previously removed and don't want. The main things to remove (in my opinion) would be all the Acer applications and McAfee antivirus.

To take it a step further, I'd go into the Startup Apps (found in the Task Manager) and disable pretty much everything except maybe the RealTek Service and SecurityHealthSystray.

Normally, I'd just reinstall Windows completely, but I was too lazy to find my flash drive. Probably not the best option for non-technical users though.

Personally, I use the Microsoft provided tool to create a Windows install USB drive, boot to USB, delete all the existing partitions, then install a fresh copy of widows. Bloatware gone.
Windows will automatically activate itself when you connect to the Internet, no key required.

If you don't want to use a Microsoft online login when setting up Windows, there are workarounds.
