40 ounce buscuit mix $5.70, 80 ounce would be $11.40 for equivalent size
80 ounces in a standard 5lb bag of flour $2 at Walmart
I was curious so I thought I'd include the comparison I didnt factor in the cost of buttermilk powder or baking soda but the recipe still calls for milk and butter anyway.... so there is that.
This convinced me that if this is a good deal then I best just keep making biscuits from scratch (flour baking soda and salt) and then just add the milk and butter same as this recipe.

C'mon, if you make them from scratch then you know these mixes are never deals, they're built for speed/convenience and for those who aren't able to put something together from scratch.

Isn't this basically useful for folks (like me) who don't want to have to worry about keeping fresh buttermilk around without going bad?

You can get buttermilk powder. We have a can. It's useful for lots of things
