The Sunlu S4 is a four spool filament dryer that helps pull moisture out of PLA, PETG, and other filaments so prints come out cleaner. It has been described as quiet, and drying old spools has reduced their weight by a few grams while improving print quality. The main caveats are that one unit stopped powering on after sitting unused, the release knob feels short, and the listing may need a quick authenticity check. It is a practical drying station if you want to keep multiple rolls ready.

Common Questions (4)

  • It is reported to be fairly quiet, around 45 dB at about 18 inches in one measurement, versus about 49 dB for a Creality dryer. That puts it a bit quieter in practice, and it is also described as quieter than the Creality unit by ear.

  • Yes. Drying old PLA and PETG reportedly reduced spool weight by a few grams from absorbed moisture, and the resulting prints came out excellent. It is especially useful for moisture-prone filaments like PETG, which can develop pops and zits when wet.

  • That should be verified before buying, because the listing may not be the legit Sunlu page. A separate Amazon listing for the same product was pointed out as a possible alternative to confirm authenticity.

  • No. If PLA and PETG are in the same AMS, the dryer should be set to PLA temperatures so the PLA is not damaged by excessive heat.

I saw that they had the "newer version of this item" was the one that goes on top of the AMS for Bambu printers for like $12 more so I picked that up instead. should take up less space overall for me https://www.amazon.com/SUNLU-AMS-...B0FLP97HMW
That's a different product, for a different use-case…
I use the S4 for standalone drying spools, and primarily for feeding external rolls that I don't want to run through the AMS (TPU and abrasives.)
Modified an AMS stand I found on Printables for it as well, sits nicely next to the X1C, with some useful Gridfinity additions.

I have a few dryers and this is pretty quiet. Nothing scientific, but just to my ears. I have two of them, but haven't used them much recently as it's pretty dry by me in the winter and when opening PETG from the package I usually dry it in one of my other dryers prior to putting it in my AMS.

Just keep in mind, if you have both PLA and PETG within the same AMS, you should set your dryer on PLA temps or you can ruin your PLA if temps are too high.

EDIT: I'm a moron. I thought this deal was for the AMS Heater. I do own the S4 as well and It does seem quieter than the Creality
