Google Fi is offering a strong S26 Ultra preorder discount, especially for existing Fi customers on Unlimited Premium or Flexible, with the 512GB model showing $650 off and free storage during preorder. The phone is factory unlocked, and the deal can be especially compelling if you sell or trade in a prior Ultra, since resale values often beat Fi trade in quotes. The main catches are the 120 day active service requirement, possible 21 day or first bill timing issues for new accounts, and taxes that may be charged on the full price in some states. A good fit if you can manage Fi timing and keep the line active.

Common Questions (6)

  • Keep the Fi line active for 120 consecutive days after activating the S26 Ultra. The countdown starts only after activation, and moving the Fi SIM/eSIM to another phone or changing service during that period can void the promo.

  • Switching to Unlimited Premium or Flexible can unlock the $650 offer on some accounts, and the price can update within about 24 hours. The plan usually needs to stay active through the promo period, and some accounts remain locked to the discount level they started with.

  • Waiting about 21 days is the safer path because that is when Fi often treats an account as existing and the promo is less likely to error. Some accounts see the offer sooner, but ordering after the first bill or after a short wait is repeatedly recommended to avoid promo issues.

  • Yes. The $650 price is tied to being on Unlimited Premium or Flexible and being an existing Fi customer; otherwise the offer can drop to $450 or show a higher price. Some accounts also need about 21 days or a first bill before Fi treats them as existing.

  • Yes. The phone is factory unlocked, so you can use another carrier from day one after Fi activation, but the Fi SIM/eSIM must stay tied to the S26 Ultra during the 120-day promo period.

  • Fi often charges tax on the full purchase price, not the discounted amount, which makes the tax bill much higher in some states. Several reports point to California as a common example, while other locations may be taxed differently.

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered the S26 Ultra in Cobalt Violet. I will probably not install my main Fi esim until after 120 days. I'll be using only the new Fi eSIM in it for 2 months. I'll update this thread in case the $650 gets clawed back or if anything else goes wrong.
I am so confused, if you are keeping the line active for 120 days or 2 years, why are you paying $650? it shows $400 to me.

I only see $999 which I assume its NO CONTRACT whatsoever not even 120 days
Or
24x16.67 if I sign up for 2 years of $20 Flexi plan..

Check my detailed post on page 10. $650 for Ultra with upgraded storage. You need to pay one time only and stick to the plan for 120 days. Check my post on page 10.

So am I doing the math correctly?

S26 Ultra
24 x $16.67 = $400 (phone)
24 * $20 = $480 (Flexible plan for 2 years)
Taxes. = ~ $100
Data accidentally used over 24 months = ~ $20
Total cost about $1,000

Thats paid over 2 years including a free "voice only" line from GoogleFi and the only catch is I cannot use my main sim in the S26U for 120 days.

Can someone please confirm my math? Thats like getting the phone outright for $900+sales tax. No?
See the original post for th n details about doing this after becoming an existing user. The new user promo of 24 months credit is not a deal.

How does a new plan make a difference? What promo? sorry I am confused.

I am not a current customer, I had GoogleFi and got my S23Ultra using that back when you could cancel after 120 days. But that was over 2 years ago same Gmail account.
This offer then should come up once you start the FI service with the same Gmail. Use flexible plan and then get the phone for $650 off and keep the line on for $120 days. You can use the phone with your current carrier after activating with FI.

You *Have* to split the order. It's advisable that you do your order from your account and your wife does a separate order from her account. I will also advice against not using crappy FI trade in but sell it locally for more
Thanks, that makes sense.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
Do you know any easy, reputable platforms where I can just ship the phone in and get paid?
I'd prefer something simple and low effort, even if it's less than a private sale.
Any good experiences with services like that?
Appreciate the advice!

Can I use my current phone with a different service to activate the Fi plan to make the promo price appear? I too did the S23 Ultra promo years ago and deactivated the service after 120 days.

I'm in a pickle!
I was on the promo for Unlimited Essentials and switched to the Unlimited Premium to take advantage of this deal. But it still says "Not eligible for offer" when I add to cart. Does anyone know a way around this, or has had it work for them?

I tried in incognito and I waited until the next day to no avail. 😢
I'm in a group and I moved all of us to Unlimited Premium. There's a person in the group who hasn't joined Fi yet, and the offer shows as available for them.
After exactly 24 hours of me switching to the Unlimited Premium plan, it said I was eligible for the $650 and I was able to complete the transaction.

Btw, $120 in taxes for me (California)

Because you are still on the 50 percent off unlimited essential promo on the backend system? Or it might take some time to void the current promo.
I've been a Google Fi customer for over four years, and my family currently uses the Unlimited Essentials plan. I contacted Google Fi Support today to see if upgrading to Unlimited Premium would qualify us for the recent Samsung S26 promo ($499 for the S26+ or $650 for the Ultra) posted here on Slickdeals.
The representative eventually confirmed that even if you switch to Unlimited Premium or the Flexible plan, your available device deals remain locked to what was initially set for your account. Consequently, the best discount available on the Essentials plan for me that is set when I log into my account is currently at $450 off:

S26+: $649
S26 Ultra: $849

Despite offering to buy three new phones at the promo price of this deal posting, they wouldn't budge. Complete bummer! I guess I will wait for another deal if one ever comes around. If you want to try your luck, you can reach them at 1-844-TALK-2-FI (1-844-825-5234). Good luck!

How does moving my esim from my BYOD to the new phone work? Never done it before. Always used physical sims in the past.
